Our 6th Annual Scientific Meeting takes place this spring in beautiful St. John’s, Newfoundland. We are convening on our Atlantic Coast this year to mark the 35th anniversary of the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope. Terry’s remarkable run for cancer research began here on April 12, 1980.
The 2015 meeting will be held May 7-9th at the Delta St. John’s Hotel and Conference Centre. Select researchers and trainees funded by the Terry Fox Foundation and the Terry Fox Research Institute have been invited to attend.
Our 2015 Scientific Organizing Committee has developed an exciting program for this year’s meeting with the theme “Enhancing Outcomes Through Collaboration. Key discussions and presentations will address personalizing therapy for prostate cancer progression, cancer research in Atlantic Canada, personalized genomics, and a new TFRI initiative: A Pan-Canadian Cancer Research Platform. We are pleased this year to offer a variety of workshops for your interest: alternatives to academia, immunotherapy, cancer prevention and early detection, enhancing current therapies, therapy of the future, and the future of clinical trials.
Due to its popularity, TFRI will again offer the “Networking Café” to provide trainees with some valuable one-to-one chats with some of our more experienced investigators.
Students and funded project investigators are invited to submit poster presentations and we hope all attendees will take full advantage of the dedicated poster viewing sessions for scientific discussion and interaction. PIs are also encouraged to provide abstracts/posters for the meeting.
As meeting space is limited to 200, we encourage you to register early.
To encourage trainee attendance and participation, The Terry Fox Research Institute has again set aside a limited number of travel awards to be awarded to a select number of trainees with the best abstracts.
We hope you’ll join us in St. John’s for this year’s meeting and help us celebrate Terry’s research legacy.
