As TFRI’s chief financial officer, Gordon Schwark helps financially steward the DHDP and Marathon of Hope Cancer Centre projects as well TFRI’s longstanding research programs and operational budget. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant with more than 30 years of experience in financial, operational and governance activities for charitable organizations. He has held senior financial roles at The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR), BC Child and Family Research Institute, and the Offices of Research Services and Financial Services at UBC. He has been a financial consultant for not-for-profits including The Terry Fox Foundation and now specializes in start-up or fast-growth stages within this sector. He holds a B. Comm. from UBC and in 2014 was named BC CFO of the Year (not for profit category) by Business in Vancouver and the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC.
